Please see below details below for upcoming road closure on the A47.
In conjunction with these works from the reopening on the morning of 3 August, Taverham Road is scheduled to be reopened and Honingham Lane will be closed. Specific details on these closures will be issue separately in the next few weeks.

Full overnight road closure – A47 Wood Lane Junction to Longwater Interchange 31 July and 3 August 2026
Removal of Easton Roundabout as part of upgrade to dual carriageway.
The A47 will be fully closed in both directions from Wood Lane Junction to Longwater Interchange between 8pm on 31 July and reopening at 6am on 3 August. The B1535 Wood Lane to the A1067 will remain fully open. Please note that there will no access from other side roads onto this section of the A47 from 7.30pm on Friday 31 July during the weekend road closure.
Diversions will be in place during the weekend closure.

Westbound Diversion Route:

During the closure, all side road access within the closure points will be closed onto the A47. Residents living directly on the A47 will be escorted through the closure by traffic marshals when access is required. Access routes will be maintained for the Emergency Services.
New road layout in place from 3 August
From reopen of the A47 on 3 August, there will be a new road layout. The Easton Roundabout will have been fully removed, with east to west traffic routed onto the new dual carriageway. The access onto Dereham Road and Church Lane in Easton from the A47 will be permanently closed, to create free-flowing traffic. There will also be a 3.25 metre width restriction in place through the project.
ROAD CLOSURES 30th JUNE ONWARDS

Full overnight road closure – A47 Wood Lane Junction to Longwater Interchange 30 June and 1 July 2026
Contractors will be carrying out preparatory work to Easton Roundabout as part of our next steps as we upgrade the road to dual carriageway.
To complete work safely, the A47 will be fully closed overnight in both directions from Wood Lane Junction to Longwater Interchange between 8pm and 6am on 30 June and also on the night of 1 July.
The B1535 Wood Lane to the A1067 will remain fully open.
From reopening of the closure on 1 Jul onwards the circulatory function of the roundabout will be closed. This means there will be no right turns at the roundabout. Eastbound traffic will not be able to turn onto Dereham Rd, Easton and Westbound traffic will not be able to turn onto Church Lane. There will also be a 3.25 metre width restriction in place through the project which only effects oversized loads.

ROAD CLOSURES 1st June onwards
Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (NTRO11350) affecting the C167 Marl Hill / Marl Hill Road / Church Street / Woodforde Close / Honingham Road / Paddys Lane from its junction with the A1067 Fakenham Road to its junction with the U57216 The Broadway (“Road A”) and the C174 Taverham Road from its junction with the A47 for 315 metres northwards (“Road B”) in the Parishes of Weston Longville, Morton-on-the-Hill, Ringland, Honingham and Easton to facilitate the construction of traffic calming features, the Roads A and B will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 1st June to 9th August 2026, but may continue to be closed until the 9th February 2027 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.
Alternative route is via: Marl Hill Alternative route: A1067 Fakenham Road / Norwich Road, B1535 Weston Hall Road / Hockering Road / Weston Green Road / Sandy Lane / Frans Green. Taverham Road Alternative route: C174 Taverham Road, Weston Road, Ringland Road, A47. (Hockering, Morton on the Hill, Honingham, Weston Longville, East Tuddenham, Great Witchingham, Easton, Honingham).
The works promoter for this closure is: Norfolk County Council. Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Roads A and B where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place. The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works/when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 9th February 2027 without further notice. If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.
A47 CLOSURE
Full weekend road closure – 8pm Friday 29 May to 6am Monday 1 Jun 2026
To allow us to continue construction of the new dual carriageway, the A47 will be fully closed in both directions from Longwater Interchange to Dereham Interchange between 8pm on Friday 29 May and 6am on Monday 1 June 2026. Please note that there will no access from side roads onto this section of the A47 from 7:30pm on Friday 29 May.During our road closure we’ll be constructing the new Lyng Road junction and connecting it to a new local access road and the current A47.
We’ll also be carrying out preparation work on the new route to Mattishall Lane, and junction and construction work linked to removing the Easton roundabout.

RINGLAND LANE CLOSURE 27 APRIL- 3 MAY
Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (NTRO11101) affecting the C172 Ringland Lane (Morton Lane) from its junction with Marl Hill to its junction with U57040 Ringland Lane (the “Road”) in the Parish of Morton-on-the-Hill to facilitate removal of a bellmouth entrance, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 27th April to 3rd May 2026, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 14th June 2026 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.
Alternative route is via: Marl Hill, Marl Hill Road, Church Street, Woodforde Close, Honingham Road, Weston Green Road, Church Hill Lane, Weston Road, Honingham Lane, The Street, Ringland Lane (Ringland, Morton-on-the-Hill, Weston Longville).
The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: Orstead Hornsea Project Three (UK) Limited.
Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.
In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

A47 Dereham interchange to Easton Roundabout full weekend closure – 8pm Friday 24 to 6am Monday 27 April
We need to close the A47 in both directions from Dereham interchange to Easton Roundabout while we work. We’ll also close:
- Church Lane (South), Easton (also known as Dereham Road) from the A47 junction to Dereham Road junction
- All side road access onto the A47 within the Easton to Dereham Closure
Church Lane (North) to Ringland will stay open.
Westbound diversion
- head east on the A47
- join the A11 heading southwest
- leave the A11 at Thetford and join the A134 heading northwest
- at Mundford, take the A1065 north towards Swaffham
- re-join the A47 at Swaffham heading east
Eastbound diversion
- head west on the A47 and leave at Swaffham, heading south on the A1065
- at Mundford, take the A134 to Thetford heading southeast
- at Thetford, take the A11 heading northeast towards Norwich
- re-join the A47 heading northwest

More Road Closures – this time from Orsted
Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (NTRO10972) affecting the C174 Honingham Lane from its junction with Weston Road for 1000 metres northwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Ringland to facilitate removal of a bellmouth from a field entrance, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 30th March to 5th April 2026, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 17th May 2026 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.
Alternative route is via: Telegraph Hill, Breck Road, Weston Green Road, Church Hill Lane, Weston Road, Honingham Lane (Ringland, Honingham, Weston Longville). Full weekend road closure – DATE CHANGE!
Despite everyone’s best efforts, we’ve had to review whether it’s practical and safe to carry out the Wood Lane traffic switch as planned. We’ve now agreed that we need to make some changes to keep our work safe, minimise the impact of the road closure and ensure works are up to the standards expected. Because of this, we’ve made the difficult decision to delay the traffic switch and the opening of Wood Lane, to 27 April 2026.As a result, the planned weekend closure of the A47 from 20 to 23 March 2026 has been cancelled.
Additional Rescheduling of Temporary Traffic Lights and Lane Closures – 28 and 29 March 2026
Unfortunately, due to operational reasons we had to cancel our overnight closures on 13 and 14 March, which have now been rescheduled for daytime on 28 and 29 March.
Additionally, Church Lane, Easton (also known locally as Dereham Road) from the junction with the A47 to the junction with Dereham Road, will be fully closed.Diversions will be in place.
